They were getting harder to find, but I kept making the effort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because they were familiar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My wife and daughters kept telling me, \u201cDon, those shoes are out of style, and they can\u2019t possibly be comfortable.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eventually, I tried on the shoes they recommended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I couldn\u2019t believe what I had been missing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It felt like I was walking on air. I had become so accustomed to my old shoes that I didn\u2019t realize how uncomfortable they actually were.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Naturally, I started thinking about how this relates to my work and my company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How many things do we continue doing the same way simply because that is how we have always done them?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When I looked at my own typical workweek, I realized there were still a few things I was doing the same way I had done them 20 or 30 years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not because they were the best methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Just because.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Technology has made many parts of our lives easier, but we do not always take advantage of it. Sometimes we dismiss a new system by saying, \u201cI\u2019m good,\u201d or, \u201cI don\u2019t have the time or interest to change.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But think about how much has changed in the tools we use every day:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.integrityfirstins.biz\/?p=192\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"192\">Calendaring systems<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.integrityfirstins.biz\/?p=417\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"417\">Conflict-of-interest checks<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Client intake procedures<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Communication with clients and coworkers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many of these changes are designed to make our lives easier and, perhaps more importantly, make things easier for our clients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One small change we made involved our post office routine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our mail is delivered to a P.O. box, and someone from the office used to make a trip there every day. Sometimes we had mail. Sometimes we didn\u2019t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the days when the box was empty, we had wasted time and gas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A friend told me about the Postal Service\u2019s Informed Delivery program. Each morning, we can receive images of the mail expected to arrive that day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No picture, no trip to the post office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was a very small change, but it saved us time, money and unnecessary effort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Comfortable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>I suggest taking a little time to look at what you do, how you do it and what equipment or systems you use.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Are you still doing something the same way simply because it is familiar?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There may be a better, easier and more comfortable option available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Get comfortable shoes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You\u2019ll love them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I hope this helps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019m Don I, your insurance guy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I recently bought a new pair of leisure shoes.
